OUTPUT

Our goal as alumni association

OUTPUT is the alumni association for Human Resource Studies graduates (BSc &
MSc) of Tilburg University. We bring HR professionals together to strengthen
networks, exchange knowledge, and translate scientific insights into solutions for
HR practice.

Board

OUTPUT is run by alumni, for alumni.
Our board is always composed of graduates who are active in HR practice and
HR‑related academic fields. We place great value on maintaining strong connections
between the board, our members, and the Human Resource Studies Department of
Tilburg University.
To strengthen and sustain this network, we warmly invite all alumni to become a
member of Output free of charge and stay connected with the community.

Amber Kersten - Chair

Amber Kersten graduated from the Bachelor’s programme in Human Resource Studies
in 2015, followed by the extended Master’s programme in 2019 at Tilburg University.
After graduating, she started her career as a junior lecturer and subsequently began a
PhD in collaboration between Tilburg University and TNO. After completing her PhD,
Amber remained at the department as an Assistant Professor in Strategic HRM and as
a board member of the People Management Center. Amber has a strong passion for
connecting HR research and HR practice. This ambition closely aligns with Output’s
mission to build bridges between academic insights and real‑world HR challenges,
which is why she joined and now chairs the alumni board. Having been connected to
the department for over ten years as both a student and an employee, Amber is deeply
committed to strengthening the HR alumni community.

Ploni Vercoulen - Secretary

Ploni Vercoulen completed her Bachelor’s degree in Personeelwetenschappen in 2015,
followed by the Master’s programme in Human Resource Studies in 2020. After
graduating from the extended master’s programme, she started her career in HR and
soon specialised in consultancy focused on employee wellbeing, absenteeism, and
employee benefits. In her current work, Ploni advises employers on sustainable
employability, wellbeing, and HR policy. She combines analytical insight with a practical,

people‑centred approach to help organizations create healthy and future‑proof
workplaces. Ploni joined the Output board to stay closely connected to the academic
HR community and fellow alumni, and to continue engaging with a broad range of HR
themes beyond her day‑to‑day professional focus.

Nienke de Bruijn - Treasurer

Nienke de Bruijn began her Bachelor’s studies in Human Resource Studies in 2011,
graduating from the Master’s programme in 2017. During her studies, she already
gained practical experience as an HR advisor at an IT startup. After graduating, she
worked as a Policy Advisor HR at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. For the past years,
Nienke has been working as a consultant and specialist in labour market issues, labour
conditions, and employee participation. She joined the Output board to strengthen
connections with fellow alumni and to actively engage in discussions around the HR
themes that continue to inspire her work. Outside of work, Nienke enjoys discovering
new restaurants and is always happy to share tips in Utrecht.

Activities

Throughout the year, Alumni Association Output organizes a varied programme
of activities that combine professional development, academic insight, and
connection between alumni.

Our activities include interactive activities such as intervision sessions and pub
lectures, where alumni discuss current HR topics, share experiences, and reflect
on challenges from everyday HR practice.
In addition, Output regularly collaborates with the People Management Center
(PMC) and Tilburg University to organize scientific roundtables. These
roundtables focus on actual HR themes such as workplace learning, behavioural
research as a strategic advantage, AI in HRM, and the role of HR in informal
care. They are organised both online and on location, allowing alumni to
engage with the latest academic insights and their implications for HR practice.
Finally, Output hosts events that strengthen the alumni community and the
connection with Tilburg University, such as the Back to Campus Event. This
event brings alumni together on campus to reconnect with each other, the
university, and developments within the Human Resource Studies field.
Together, these activities reflect OUTPUT’s mission to connect alumni, advance
knowledge, and bridge science and HR practice.
